Mediation is a private meeting where both spouses sit down with a neutral mediator to work out the terms of their divorce. Instead of a judge making decisions for your family, you and your spouse make them together.

Is mediation right for you?

Mediation works well when both people are willing to talk, even if they disagree on a lot. It is usually faster and less expensive than going to trial, and everything said in mediation stays confidential.

It is not the right fit for every family. If there has been abuse, or one person is hiding assets, we will talk you through other options.

Your first consultation is free

Call us or book online. We will explain how mediation works and whether it fits your situation, with no obligation.

How the process works

  1. Free consultation

We listen to your situation and explain your options in plain language.

  2. Gather your information

We help you collect financial records and list what needs to be decided.

  3. Mediation sessions

Both spouses meet with the mediator to work through each issue, one at a time.

  4. Written agreement

We draft the agreement and file it with the court for approval.

“We came in expecting a fight and left with an agreement we could both live with.”

Frequently asked questions

How long does mediation take?

Most couples finish in two to four sessions over a few weeks. It depends on how many issues need to be decided.

Do we each need our own lawyer?

It is not required, but we recommend that each spouse has a lawyer review the final agreement before signing.

What if mediation does not work?

Nothing said in mediation can be used in court. If you cannot agree, you can still go to court and start fresh.
